In the near future, a sickly man meets a woman on a beach in the shadow of a power station. It soon becomes clear they were once an item. Through a series of emotional encounters they have come to realise how much they loved one another. In the present extraordinary yet elliptical situation, in which the island has been 'contained', they are each all the other has left. They try to figure out what went wrong and, as the final sirens sound, hold each other as it all ends.
